Tuddenham cc v Long Melford Cricket Club Sun 1st XI on Sun 22 Jun 2014 at 1.30pm
Long Melford Cricket Club Won By 6 wkts

Match report Long Melford won by 6 wickets.
On a humid afternoon, Melford lost the toss and were asked to field by Tuddenham. The track offered as much to the bowler as the batsman. Ivan Newman and Chris Ayrton opened up, and it was the pace and bounce of Ayrton that had Yadav and Smith backing away. Ayrton (1-38) got his just rewards having Yadav caught behind from a top edge to keeper Ashley Skeggs. Newman (1-24) had Smith caught at cover by Nigel Henbury in the next over. Tuddenham steadied through Shimmens and Bromley, but runs were kept down from excellent fielding by Nigel Henbury and Patrick King, leaving Tuddenham on 63 at the half way stage. Steve Hale and Dave Routlegde took up the reins and there was brief acceleration until Routlegde had the dangerous Shimmens caught for 39 by Sam Mansfield. Preschand was playing in boundaries until a mistimed shot was taken by Ayrton. The same combination accounted for Farnaby 4 overs later. Hale then joined in removing Coverdale and Peachey for 1 each in consecutive overs. Bromley moved to 50 before being caught spectacularly by Mansfield to his right giving Routlegde his fourth wicket. Hale then trapped Gibbins leg before wicket, but a late flourish from Pettit and Burrell added 18 in the last 3 overs to post 176-9 from their 40 overs.
After tea, Melford set about attacking the total, but Nigel Henbury was soon back in the pavilion for 1. Captain Skeggs joined Adam Kemp, but when he went in the 6th over, Melford were on 14-2 giving Pettit his second wicket. Sean Henbury strode to the crease in his ever determined manner and slashed the first ball over the slips for 4. Both opening bowlers felt his wrath as he hit them both for straight 6's. The entertainment was short lived however, when he became Pettit's third victim. His 25 came from just 16 balls. Hale came in at 5, and carried on where Sean had finished. With Skeggs playing a very sensible anchor role, they were scoring at 5 runs an over. Tuddenham turned to the spin of Yadav, who was rewarded in his 3rd over, bowling Hale who scored a run a ball 44. Skeggs was joined by Matt Wood, and decided it was his turn to open fire on the bowlers. He brought up his 50 in the 31st over from just 63 balls. Wood (22 not out) continued to back up Skeggs (68 not out), and total victory was completed in the 34th over.
