Match report The second meeting between these two sides ended in a reserve result from the first fixture with Acton winning fairly comfortably.
Acton didn't start particularly well with the 2 openers managing just 16 between them with Hoadley taking both wickets. However this brought A cooper to the crease who played some really nice shots through cover and straight and he was supported well by number acton number 4 village who also played some nice shots until he departed for 28. Whilst cooper batted well for his 50 he was also a victim of L Hall who once taking J French's wicket for 28 ended with figures of 3-39 off his 10 overs. These figures probably did not do hall's bowling justice as he went for 22 off his last 2 overs when S Fisher came in and hit a quick fire 28 not out all in boundaries!
So Melford set with their biggest target this season didn't start at all well with N Henbury and A Kemp departing for 1 and a golden duck respectively. Wood and Byford could then only get 18 and 15 and S Henbury and A Skeggs also getting low scores which brought in Hoadley.
He was slowly bringing Melford back into the game but once he was bowled by French it was an uphill struggle from there on and as plucky as sawyer, Wenborn and Hall were it was not enough to stop the defeat. A mention for the bowler J French who finished with figures of 5-21 off 10 which was the main hinderance in Melford's scoring and he won't like me saying it but he bowled the possible father and brother in-law.... Didn't think that one through James!!
