Match report Long Melford 258-6 beat woolpit 182-9 by 76 runs.
After winning the toss and batting first Melford opened up with Stuck (11) and N Henbury (76) with Stuck departing early lbw. This brought birthday boy Byford to the crease with the pair batting nicely forming a partnership of 117 before Henbury was caught. Captain Skeggs knowing he was short of bowlers brought himself into 4 trying to keep the runs coming but only managed 35. Unfortunately Byford fell short of a birthday ton and Sakhti and S Henbury only made 11 and 4 respectively but T Ellis finished the innings off nicely with 20 not out.
So with a fairly big target to chase woolpit started well enough until Coombes was caught behind for 16. Newcombe was batting well playing very straight but lacked support with numbers 3 to 5 only making 12 runs between the with Newman and in particular Phil king bowling very well. Newcombe was then out lbw after making 42. Wood then bowled a poor over so Skeggs decided to bring himself on to bowl. The funky chicken got Newcombe junior caught well by S Henbury which took the game away woolpit. Skeggs then proceeded to get another 3 wickets finishing with 4 wickets for 19 runs off 8 overs. Flannagan finished the woolpit innings off with some boundaries finishing with 28 not out.
