Match report Long melford 1st v little bardfield div 3
Melford won the toss and put bardfield in to bat. Bardfield got to a good start with the melford bowlers struggling to find some rhythm bardfield seemed to pick them off with ease at times which brought a bowling Change j Harvey replaced N.muthu Harvey soon found the ball swing for him which posed a problem at times .
French was bowling with some good pace, it looked as the brake though was close but bardfield's opening pair seamed to weather the storm then Harvey though he had his first wicket of the season but the bardfield batsman did not walk after it seemed that he had been caught behind . Melford eventually got the first wicket from a fine peace of fielding from g boon who held on to his catch which left bardfield 120-1 of 28 overs with that wicket it sparked melford in to gear then boon soon had his first wicket of the game a fine catch from B.byford and with a run out as well bardfield were 122-3 with some more fine bowling from B.Byford wickets kept falling for melford. C.clevery was also having a good game behind the stumps with taking three catches and a stumping as the overs were running out bardfield were soon all out in the 42 over for 156 so it was a top all round effort from melford in the filed considering bardfield were 120-1.
Byford was the pick of the bowlers he ended with figures of 6-29-10.5
Melfords reply did not get of to the best stat we soon lost our first wicket at 14-1 there was a mini revival with B.byford and N.wright but wright was the next to go melford. B. byford and j.Harvey got melford to 50 but B.byford went g boon then came to the crease Harvey then got bowled by t graham who was bardfield's best bowler A.skeggs stay at the crease was short then c .boon joined his brother in the middle g boon was then out with the score at 100-6 with still a lot of work to be done c boon and c cleverley set about the task for getting the last 57 runs to win with bardfield bringing the slow bowlers on and tightened the field up! boon was able to manoeuvre the ball around to still keep the score moving a long cleverley like wise with the target all most in site it was Craig boon who got melford over the line with a well batted 30. it was a good team effort and a thoroughly deserved win.
