Long Melford Cricket Club Lost
Match report
Long Melford 1st XI v Lakenheath (A). Long Melford lost by 97 runs
Melford won the toss and put Lakenheath in to bat/ Melford, missing quite a few players, did a very good job with the ball; French continued on from last week bowling good lines and his good work paid off with two wickets from 11 overs for 27 runs with the bowling machine that is Martin Maxim at the other end taking 3 for 59 of his overs. Walters and Hoadley took the other wickets. Thus Melford’s bowlers did a fine job to contain Lakenheath for 204-8 and which may have been even better had a few decisions gone Melford’s way. Melford got off to reasonable start from Harvey and Cordington but soon found it tough going with wickets falling regularly. But although Harvey dug in het had no support. Harvey got his 50 but when he was caught out by a superb catch on 57 it looked to be all over for Melford with only two other batsmen getting in to double figures. Melford were all out for 107 and although only picking up 5pts from the day t still managed to move up a place in the league.
