Sudbury III chose to bat first in bright sunshine and immediately took risks with edges flying from the bowling of Matt Hoadley and Dave Routledge.
Ivan Newman replaced Routledge and trapped Griffith lbw with his very first ball with the score on 30. Wotton was next to fall to Newman, feathering an edge to wicketkeeper Cleverley for 7. Opener Halliday was then bowled superbly for 46 by Craig Boon who found plenty of movement off the pitch.
Melford fielded well with Hoadley and Routledge taking good catches before skipper Hoadley ran out Shropshire with a brilliant direct hit from midwicket.
Newman bowled Stovell and Boon had McDiarmid stumped to finish with three and four wickets each before the intermittent drizzle became a downpour and the match was abandoned with 34 overs bowled.
